Jesus Is Enough
Jesus is enough for you; he is more than enough. You're nodding your head but let me add something to that. Jesus is enough; not your worldly possessions or achievements. Because you're expensive new clothes will fade and tear but Jesus doesn't care. He doesn't care about how you look or whether the people on this earth accept you. You could have nothing on earth, but you still have Jesus and he is enough.
All these worldy things are not what's important.
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal." (Matthew 6:19)
You cannot say "Jesus is enough for me" and then go on obsessing over worldy possessions the moment you close your Bible. No! That's not how this works. If Jesus truly is enough, you will be content with however little you have. I'm not saying it's wrong to want new clothes or more friends, there's nothing bad about that. But when you want something to the point where you are stressed or obsessed with it, that's not good!
"But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal." (Matthew 6:20)
Because He died for you. Maybe you didn't love or even know him, but he died for you. He forgave all your biggest sins and every one of the tiny ones that you barely noticed. He loved you so much that he gave up his life.
And that should be enough to keep you satisfied.
Jesus calls for us to live contently with what we have been given.
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:21)
I'll be the first to admit that I often catch myself wanting more and more but all that is not important. He died because he loves you. And when you have love like that, all those other things you crave pale in comparison.
If your heart is filled with thoughts of what you want, how are you to love others? And that's our greatest calling; that's the basis of our entire faith.
So sit down and think about what's troubling you and truly confess that Jesus is enough.
